Emma Tusuzian

B.S., Northeastern University

Email:
etusuzia@iu.edu
Department:
Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences
Campus:
IU Bloomington
Major:
Clinical Science and Neuroscience

Emma is a first-year doctoral student working towards a PhD in Clinical Science and Neuroscience under the mentorship of Dr. Bill Hetrick. Prior to graduate school, she obtained a BS in Psychology from Northeastern University in 2023 and worked for two years as a postbaccalaureate research assistant at McLean Hospital's Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder Research Program.

Emma is interested in understanding brain-based mechanisms of cognitive systems and social cognitive processes as well as cross-cultural factors to understand, prevent, and treat symptoms across the psychosis spectrum. Her current research goals include using transdiagnostic samples to 1) test the extent to which strategic foraging theory may help us understand mechanisms underlying disorganized cognition and speech, 2) identify the cerebellum’s role in prediction error processing of social information, and 3) investigate cerebellar dysfunction as a risk marker for poor social cognitive, clinical, and functional outcomes.

Outside of the lab, you can find her drawing, listening to music, and language learning.
