Nancy is a graduate student who expects to receive her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and Neuroscience in 2022. After successfully defending her dissertation in May 2021, Nancy began her predoctoral clinical internship at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio where she has a concentration at the Early Psychosis Intervention Center (EPICENTER). She graduated in 2013 from University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Spanish Literature. In 2015, Nancy completed a two-year postbaccalaureate fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health in Dr. Carlos Zarate’s lab studying mechanisms of experimental rapid-acting antidepressant ketamine in treatment-resistant depression. Currently, Nancy uses electrophysiological (EEG, MEG), neuroimaging (fMRI), and cognitive science methodologies to study sensory, cognitive, and linguistic processes across the spectrum of typical to atypical psychological functioning. Nancy’s research interests can be summarized as follows:

  1. Characterization of speech organization and semantic memory search in psychotic spectrum disorders
  2. Cerebellar mechanisms of cognition and associative learning in psychotic spectrum disorders
  3. Sensory processing in psychotic and mood disorders and relationship to clinical symptoms
  4. Pharmacological and therapeutic interventions for psychotic and mood disorders

During her time at IU, Nancy has been supported under the following grants and awards:

  • National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP)
  • National Institutes of Health (NIH) T32 Clinical Translational Science Training Fellowship
  • IU Program in Neuroscience Fellowship
  • IU Provost’s Travel Award for Women in Science

In her free time, Nancy enjoys running and cooking.
